Freight Bill Audit
When you ship freight, you're typically given an estimated quote based on weight, class, and distance. While the quoted and actual costs usually match,
discrepancies can occur in about 3-8% of shipments. TLI helps by auditing these invoices with our esteemed service offering
MyFreightAudit. This means we thoroughly review motor carrier charges, ensuring they're correct before billing our customers. If we spot any errors, we'll work with the carrier to verify the charges, saving you from paying extra fees.
Who is MyFreightAudit?
TLI, originally Translogistics, was founded in 1994 as a managed logistics services provider. In 2022, we rebranded as TLI, though our commitment to providing top-tier logistics solutions remains unchanged. MyFreightAudit is a specialized
managed logistics service offering under the TLI umbrella. While it’s a unique offering, you’re still working with the trusted team behind TLI/Translogistics. Whether you know us as MyFreightAudit, TLI, or Translogistics, we’re all one company, dedicated to optimizing freight spend and improving operational efficiency.
Do All Carriers and Brokers Audit Their Invoices?
Not all carriers and brokers audit their invoices. This is where TLI stands out. We go the extra mile by meticulously checking every invoice before forwarding it to you. If there's a legitimate difference between the quoted and invoiced price, we'll notify you of the details. The sooner you bring up any disputes, the more effectively we can address them—ideally immediately after the shipment rather than weeks or months later.
Some 3PLs
claim to offer audit services,
but they only flag billing disputes for you to handle. They don’t take proactive steps or resolve issues with the carrier—instead, they leave that task to you. A report full of problems without solutions just adds to your workload. We take a different approach—we handle the disputes for you, ensuring you don’t overpay motor
carriers or waste time on extra work.

What If I Want to Dispute an Invoice Discrepancy?
Even if additional charges like reweigh fees are supported by carrier documentation, they might still be incorrect. If you have evidence, such as a
scale calibration certificate or photos, we can dispute these charges with the carrier on your behalf. We’ll help you resolve any discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
How to File a Reclass or Reweigh Dispute
To dispute a reclass or reweigh, carriers typically require two official documents:

- Spec Sheet: Provided by the manufacturer, showing key freight details.
- Packing Slip: Accompanies the shipment, listing item descriptions and weight.
Once you provide these documents, TLI will handle the rest of the dispute process.
Disputing a Reclass
A reclass happens when a motor carrier inspects your freight and finds that the
freight class listed on the bill of lading doesn’t match the actual class. Freight class affects pricing—higher classes mean higher charges. If the carrier reclassifies your shipment to a higher class and you believe it should be lower, TLI can help dispute this charge using the
National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) system.
Disputing a Reweigh
Reweighs are common because most shippers don't have certified scales. Scale calibrations greatly increase the probability of a fair settlement for the shipper. Carriers themselves all use certified scales to check if the weight listed on the
BOL matches the actual weight of the shipment. If the weight differs, you may incur additional charges. TLI can help dispute this reweigh charge if you have documentation proving the carrier’s weight is inaccurate.
