How TLI Audit Works

Our audit experts dive into the audit for you:

1      Invoice is Flagged

After the shipment delivers, TLI will receive the invoice and automatically check if the quoted amount matches the invoice amount.

2      TLI Disputes Charge

If the charge is invalid, TLI will dispute with evidence for the carrier to correct the charges. If it is valid, then we will let you know why to help fix the issue.

3      Invoice Audited

You receive one consolidated bill at the end, with all your invoices audited. If business reviews are held for your account, your account manager will go over all your audited freight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions we get on freight claims:

  • What is a Freight Invoice Auditing?

The service is designed to reconcile invoices from freight carriers against what you were quoted at the time of booking. There are many accessorials or additional costs that might pop-up on invoices, this includes the most popular concerns of auditors such as reclasses and reweighs. It's imperative to hold carriers accountable for their charges!

  • How is Freight Bill Auditing Performed?

TLI's freight invoice software automatically flags shipments for our accounting team to mitigate if the invoice does not match the quoted amount. Our team of experts audit each carrier invoice to ensure the charge is valid and will dispute reclassification, reweighs and other accessorial with the carrier if not. If the charge is valid, then our team requires the carrier to provide proof. If common valid-charges occur (such as detention fees), our team works together to mitigate these costs on the shipper's behalf.

  • What Does Freight Invoice Auditing Cost?

If you route 100% of your freight through TLI, then the service is free.

If you'd like to add our freight invoice audit program on top of your current transportation relationships, then there will be an additional fee associated to each shipment ran through the system. For a detailed scope of work, reach out below.
