  • What is a Freight Claim?

    Freight claims management in logistics refers to an inquiry after damages or a loss have occurred during transit of a shipment. Typically, the shipper requests the carrier to provide compensation for damages that took place during transit of a shipment. This can include the carrier losing the freight as well. There are rules and liability coverages that limit carrier's responsibility of damages. Shippers are able to mitigate these risks of responsibility through a couple of techniques.

  • When is a Carrier Liable for Damages?

    Carriers are not always legally obligated to pay out freight damages. There are limitations to how much compensation is reimbursed and when the carrier is liable, carrier's reimbursement is based off their cargo-liability. Concealed damage, for example, must be reported within five days for a claim to be filed with the carrier.  Carriers are liable when: Freight is damaged or lost due to carrier negligence.

  • How can I prevent Freight Damages?

    Unfortunately, there is no 100 percent guaranteed way to ensure no damages will occur. Some cite as much as 3.5% of LTL freight is damaged due to the handling terminal-to-terminal.
