Description | Common Equipment | |
---|---|---|
Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) | Less-than-Truckload (LTL) means that the shipment does not take up the full available cpacity of a trailer. These shipments generally weigh no more than 20,000 pounds. LTL carriers have series of terminals that offload the freight until the destination. | Dry Vans, Straight Trucks, Liftgate Trucks |
Volume LTL | Volume LTL rates are consistent with LTL shipments, but are shipments more than 5,000 lbs or more than 12 linear feet of a trailer. Certain low density shipments may also trigger standard LTL rates to be invalid and a volume rate must be used. | Dry Vans, Straight Trucks |
Partial Truckload | Partial truckload is that sweet spot between less than truckload (LTL) and full truckload. (It is also called “volume LTL” by some carriers who offer it.) When your shipment is too big for LTL but too small to fill a full truckload, chances are you've got a perfect partial truckload shipment on your hands. | Dry Vans, Flatbeds |
Truckload | Truckload allows shippers to have access to the entire capacity of the trailer. These shipments typically go from point A to point B with no transloading. | Dry Van, Flatbed, Refrigerated, Specialty |
Expedite | Expedites are specialized carriers that pick up and deliver as soon as possible. Expedites include sprinter vans, straight trucks, team drivers, and possibly air shipping. | Sprinter Vans, Straight Trucks, Teams, Air |
LCL or FCL | International shipments are done through exports and imports. These shipments generally require more information. | 20' or 40' Containers |
